Unwanted Witness Uganda filed the application against the Respondents seeking declarations for the alleged violation by the Respondents, of the right to freedom of speech and expression, the right to work and the right to a livelihood and an adequate standard of living, arising from the temporal suspension of social media platforms (OTT applications) and the mobile money platform.
The High Court Judge, Justice Bashaija Andrew, in dismissing the case held that, the applicant failed to prove the allegations made. He further held that in absence of any evidence in support of the claims, or any evidence as to the nexus of the suspensions and the rights alleged to have been violated, the whole application is rendered moot.
