Sam Mayanja receives Pearl of Africa Life Achievement Award

Mr. Sam Mayanja was on Friday September 14th 2012 among the few high profile personalities in Uganda who received the Pearl of Africa  Achievement Award For their outstanding performance in social and economic transformation of Uganda.

The Pearl of Africa Lifetime Achievements Awards function was to honour and recognize people who have made personal contribution towards the attainment of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals in Uganda.

Over 1000 personalities were nominated country-wide but only 48 passed the criteria to receive the award. The two Uganda Human Rights C omission Officials joined other important personalities at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala received the award and they included the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni;  the Prime Minister  of Uganda  Hon.Amama Mbabazi and his predecessor Prof Apolo Nsibambi; the Executive Director of  Kampala City Capital Authority Ms. Jennifer Musisi and the third Deputy Premier Hon. Moses Ali.  Others to receive the award were the Minister of internal Affairs Hon. HillaryOnek; the Minister of Education Jessica Alupo, Police chief, Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura and Gen. Elly Tumwine among others.

The event was organized by Public Opinions in collaboration with Uganda Investment Authority, the Prime Minister’s Office and National Planning Authority and is slated to become an annual activity.
